Video technology is being used more and more by recruiters and could spell the end for the traditional face-to-face interview – at least that’s the way things could be heading, according to recent statistics. Research carried out by Monster and those on University College London’s Business Psychology MSc course shows that around half of recruiters are now using video to interview candidates.
For reason for this growth in popularity is quite clear. From an interviewer’s point of view, the technique offers numerous benefits, such as the ability to get through a large number of interviews in a short space of time and the ability to collaborate with a co-interviewer who needn’t be in the same room to participate. It makes scheduling far easier, since there are fewer restrictions set by the interviewee regarding when they can travel to meet them.
